Held on the 30th anniversary of the 12 September coup, this referendum approved a 26-article constitutional package with 58% of the vote. It restructured the judiciary (changing the composition of the high judges' council and the constitutional court) and lifted the amnesty protections that had shielded the 1980 coup leaders, opening the way to Kenan Evren's 2014 trial.
